The XR was fitted with the 3.6 L DOHC V6 with VVT, rated at 252 hp at 6200 rpm and 251 lb⋅ft (340 N⋅m) of torque at 3100 rpm. This engine was first used in the Cadillac CTS as well as the Cadillac STS and marks its third use in a North American GM car. With this 3.6 L engine, the Aura was the first front-wheel drive GM passenger car to use the new Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission.

Other notes included on elevations may indicate the materials contractors should use for certain areas, such as window or door type, siding materials and exterior insulation. The front elevation of a home plan is a straight-on view of the house as if you were looking at it from a perfectly centred spot on the same plane as the house. Also called an “entry elevation,” the front elevation of a home plan shows features such as entry doors, windows, the front porch and any items that protrude from the home, such as side porches or chimneys. However, side walls are not visible at all unless they will be built at an angle that is visible from the centred front view. The Aura's interior has been criticized for using cheap materials.
Directional notations, such as “Right side elevation ” help minimize confusion when interpreting the drawings. Side elevations of a home plan are useful for showing windows and other home features, and they also show the home’s depth. The side view of the front and back porches helps contractors visualize porch size in relation to the home. Side elevations of a home plan are similar to the front elevations, but are drawn from each side of the home, again in a straight-on view. Architects label these elevations by right and left side, determined as if you were facing the home.

The transmission featured TAPshift, which allowed the driver to manually select gears by using paddles located behind the steering wheel. The Aura XR was the performance-oriented version with a taut, but not harsh, suspension and the more powerful engine. Available interior colors in the XR were tan and grey leather , along with the XR-specific black or Morocco Brown leather. Other standard features included the Advanced Audio Package, 18 inch alloy wheels, chrome exterior door handles, and remote vehicle start.

This knowledge will help shape open spaces along both sides of the river and inform the experiences of the Greenline. This includes potential for truth telling and enhancing ecological diversity within the central city to improve the health of the river and its surrounding country. The Greenline Project is a transformational project that will present a new vision for the north bank of the Yarra River - Birrarung. It will see the development of five precincts covering 4 km between Birrarung Marr and the Bolte Bridge.
